Bokakhat: A suspected grenade explosion rocked the CRPF camp at Sapjuri Panbari in Bokakhat on Tuesday evening, June 24, leaving three Assam Police personnel seriously injured and triggering a wave of security operations in the region. According to preliminary reports, the blast occurred around 6:45 PM and is believed to have been caused by an explosive device hurled at the camp from a moving motorcycle — suggesting a calculated and targeted attack on the security establishment. The sudden explosion sent shockwaves through the locality, causing panic among residents. The injured police personnel have been identified as- Siddhartha Borbora, Sushil Bhumij, Mintu Hazarika. All three sustained significant injuries and were rushed to Bokakhat Civil Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. Their condition is reported to be critical but stable. In the aftermath of the explosion, security forces led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) launched a large-scale manhunt to trace the assailants. Additional forces have been deployed, and checkpoints have been set up across Bokakhat and nearby areas. A high alert has been issued in the region, and combing operations are underway. While no group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, authorities have not ruled out the involvement of insurgent elements. Senior police officials have arrived at the site, and forensic teams are examining the scene to collect evidence. Further updates are awaited as investigations progress.
