Guwahati: The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) has announced the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) 2025 examinations, with top-performing students from Jorhat and Guwahati making headlines for their stellar scores.Leading this year’s merit list is Amishree Saikia from Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School in Jorhat, who secured the first rank by scoring 591 out of 600, achieving a remarkable 98.50%.Following closely is Saptarswa Bardoloi of Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya, Noonmati, Guwahati, who attained the second position with 590 marks (98.33%).The third position was bagged by Anirban Borgohain, another student from Pragya Academy, Jorhat, with a score of 589 (98.17%).Among the districts, Sivasagar secured the highest pass percentage at 85.55%, followed by Dibrugarh at 81.10% and Dhemaji at 80.64%. A total of 2,70,471 students passed the examination, with 89,041 securing first division, 1,35,568 in second division, and 45,862 in third division. Additionally, 5,336 students received distinction marks, 16,517 secured star marks, and 1,68,312 achieved letter marks in various subjects.Assam’s Education Minister, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, congratulated the top scorers through social media, praising their commitment and wishing them success in their future academic endeavors.This year, the overall pass percentage stood at 63.98%, showing a sharp decline from last year’s 75.7%. Of the 4,29,449 students who registered for the exam, 4,22,737 appeared, while 6,712 were marked absent. SEBA also reported that 22 results have been withheld, and 101 students were expelled for malpractice during the examination.The written exams were held from February 15 to March 3, 2025, while the practical exams were conducted on January 21 and 22.
