Pulwama/Islamabad, April 25 – Security forces on Friday demolished the house of terrorist Asif Sheikh in Tral, Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir. Sheikh is suspected to have been involved in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley, where 26 civilians were brutally killed in a hail of gunfire.
The Pahalgam massacre has sparked nationwide outrage and condemnation, prompting a series of intensified counter-terror operations in the Kashmir Valley. Officials described the demolition as part of a larger crackdown on terror infrastructure in the region.
In a swift and dramatic response, Pakistan on Thursday suspended the 1972 Simla Agreement and all bilateral pacts with India. Islamabad also severed trade ties, closed its airspace to Indian flights, and issued a stern warning that any Indian move to divert water under the Indus Water Treaty would constitute an "Act of War."
The measures were announced following an emergency meeting of Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC), chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Pakistani government cited India's suspension of the Indus Treaty and diplomatic ties after the Pahalgam attack as the trigger for its retaliatory actions.
With tensions escalating rapidly between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, global observers are urging both sides to exercise restraint and return to diplomatic dialogue to avert a larger crisis in the region.
