Centre Releases ₹1,066.80 Crore to 6 States Hit by Floods & Landslides

New Delhi: The Central Government has approved the release of ₹1,066.80 crore to six states severely affected by floods and landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains. The funds, allocated under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), aim to support relief and rehabilitation efforts in Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Kerala, and Uttarakhand.
According to an official statement, Assam will receive ₹375.60 crore, while ₹29.20 crore has been allocated to Manipur. Meghalaya has been granted ₹30.40 crore, Mizoram ₹22.80 crore, Kerala ₹153.20 crore, and Uttarakhand the highest at ₹455.60 crore. These states have witnessed widespread destruction due to torrential rainfall, flash floods, and landslides during the ongoing southwest monsoon season.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the development on social media platform X, highlighting that more than ₹8,000 crore from the SDRF and National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) has been disbursed to 19 states so far this year. He also noted that the Central Government has extended logistical support, including the deployment of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indian Army, and Indian Air Force.
The Indian Army has confirmed the launch of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in affected regions. So far, 40 relief columns have been deployed, and 3,820 people have been rescued.
The Centre’s prompt financial and logistical response aims to mitigate the impact of the natural calamities and assist in rapid recovery and rehabilitation.
