Fungbili Basumatary of BHB College selected for Spain Football Training camp

Bajali: In a major boost to youth football in Assam, Fungbili Basumatary, a student of BHB College, has been named among 17 under-19 players selected by the Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) for an advanced football training programme at Marbella FC, Spain. The final selection was made after a rigorous camp held at the SAI Training Ground in Guwahati. This initiative is part of GSA’s broader mission to scout and groom talented young footballers from across the state through platforms like the prestigious Bordoloi Trophy. To provide international exposure, GSA recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the football management group Best of You. As per the agreement, the selected players will undergo a 14-day high-performance training session at Marbella FC, known for its world-class facilities and coaching standards. GSA Secretary Devajit Saikia informed that the team is scheduled to depart for Spain in the third week of July. The entire initiative is estimated to cost around Rs 93 lakh, which will be fully funded by GSA to ensure that the young players get the best possible training experience. The selection of Fungbili Basumatary not only brings pride to BHB College but also highlights the growing talent in Assam’s football scene, now getting the opportunity to shine on the global stage.
