NFRSA Concludes 1st All Guwahati Inter-Academy Basketball Tournament

Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Association (NFRSA) successfully hosted the 1st All Guwahati Inter Academy/School Basketball Prize Money Tournament from May 27 to 29, bringing together over 230 young players from across the city. The tournament featured intense competition in four categories — Under-14 Boys, Under-14 Girls, Under-17 Boys, and Under-17 Girls — with 19 teams battling it out in 38 round-robin league matches. The event served as a major platform for young basketball enthusiasts to showcase their skills and passion for the sport. NFRSA dominated the tournament, clinching the championship title in all four categories. In the Under-14 divisions, NFRSA emerged victorious in both boys’ and girls’ matches, with HBCC securing the runner-up spots. In the Under-17 segment, NFRSA continued its winning streak, defeating K.V. Narengi in the boys' finals and HBCC again in the girls' category. The event not only highlighted emerging basketball talent in Guwahati but also emphasized the importance of grassroots development in sports. NFRSA praised all participants for their discipline, determination, and sportsmanship, and gave special recognition to its own basketball teams for their clean sweep of titles. Speaking after the tournament, NFRSA reiterated its commitment to nurturing young athletes and promoting basketball across Assam. The association also expressed plans to host similar tournaments in the future, ensuring continued support for budding players in the region.
