London : Hulk Hogan, wrestling’s larger-than-life WWE icon, has died at age 71 following a reported cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida home .Emergency crews rushed to the property, and TMZ reports he was taken out on a stretcher before being placed in an ambulance. The legendary figure- born Terrence Gene Bollea- rose to prominence in the 1980s, transforming WWE into a global entertainment powerhouse and headlining eight of the first nine WrestleMania events.A two-time WWE Hall of Famer and celebrated actor in projects like Rocky III (1982), No Holds Barred (1989), Suburban Commando (1991), and Mr. Nanny (1993), he remained a cultural touchstone throughout his life.The cause of his death has been linked to cardiac arrest, although a formal medical confirmation is pending. Hogan is survived by his third wife, yoga trainer Sky Daily, along with his two children, Brooke and Nick. He was previously married to Linda Claridge and Jennifer McDaniel.Just days before his passing, Hogan’s wife, Sky Daily, had shared that the wrestling icon was recuperating from a major spinal procedure. Speaking on social media, she reassured fans concerned about rumours of Hogan being in a coma or suffering brain damage.“His heart is strong... none of those rumours are true,” she wrote on Instagram, adding that they were taking things “one day at a time with love, strength and patience.”According to PennLive and Page Six, Hogan had undergone a four-level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF), an intensive surgery that not only affected his spine but also impacted his vocal cords and breathing functions. Daily had asked fans not to panic over his hospital visits, explaining that a long recovery was expected.From WrestleMania to the nWo, Hogan shaped pro wrestling’s golden era.Hulk Hogan rose to global fame during the 1980s and 1990s as one of the most recognisable faces of professional wrestling.With his signature handlebar moustache, bandana, and catchphrase- "Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you?" -Hogan became a household name far beyond the wrestling ring.He was instrumental in propelling WWE (formerly WWF) into mainstream entertainment through legendary rivalries with Andre the Giant, "Macho Man" Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior.His later turn as the leader of WCW's New World Order (nWo) faction cemented his status as a pop culture icon and transformed the business of wrestling storytelling.
