Manipur congress holds Tiranga Yatra to support armed forces

Imphal: In a powerful display of patriotism and solidarity, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) organized a Tiranga Yatra in Imphal to express unwavering support for the Indian Armed Forces currently engaged in Operation Sindoor. The rally comes in the wake of heightened national security concerns following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which was claimed by Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. The symbolic procession, stretching approximately 4 kilometers, began and concluded at the Congress Bhavan, traversing through the North AOC area. Led by senior Congress leaders including former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, AICC member Gaikhangam, MPCC President Keisham Meghachandra, and former MP Thokchom Meinya, the rally saw enthusiastic participation from party workers and local citizens alike, many of whom carried the national flag and chanted patriotic slogans. Speaking to the media during the Yatra, Okram Ibobi Singh stated that the event was held in line with directives from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to demonstrate collective support for India’s armed forces. “The Congress party stands firmly against terrorism and unequivocally supports the Armed Forces in their fight against terror networks,” Singh said. He also emphasized the need for national unity and resilience in the face of escalating threats to national security. MPCC President Keisham Meghachandra echoed the sentiment, calling the Tiranga Yatra a reaffirmation of the party's commitment to India's sovereignty and a tribute to those serving on the frontlines. The march was conducted in a peaceful and disciplined manner, with participants echoing messages of strength, solidarity, and national pride. The event underscored the Congress party's call for a united front against terrorism and a shared commitment to the nation’s integrity during these testing times. As tensions remain high along various border regions, such public demonstrations of unity continue to bolster morale and send a clear message of support to the Indian Armed Forces.
