Shillong: The Meghalaya Police have made two more arrests in the ongoing investigation into the brutal murder of Indore-based transport businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, taking the total number of accused in custody to seven. The latest to be arrested are Indore property dealer Silome James and a security guard, Balla Ahirwar. According to East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem, James was apprehended on Saturday night at Bhonrasa toll gate in Dewas district while attempting to flee to Bhopal. He had leased a flat in Heera Bagh Colony to one of the co-accused, Vishal Chauhan, where Raghuvanshi’s wife Sonam reportedly stayed after the murder.

James is accused of concealing a bag belonging to Sonam, allegedly containing crucial evidence, in a flat at Indore’s Dewas Naka area. Shortly after, police arrested Ahirwar, who was posted as the guard at the same property.

Raghuvanshi went missing on May 23 during a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya and was found dead on June 2 in a gorge near Sohra waterfall. His wife Sonam, accused of plotting the murder with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and three others—Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi—surrendered on June 8 in Uttar Pradesh.

All five are in judicial custody in Meghalaya. The case is under intensive investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), which will seek transit remand to bring the newly arrested duo to Shillong for further questioning.
