Major Counter-Terror Drill Conducted at Tripura Secretariat

Agartala: A high-intensity counter-terrorism drill was conducted at the Tripura Secretariat in Agartala recently, bringing together multiple security agencies in a coordinated simulation aimed at testing response capabilities to a high-risk threat. The drill saw participation from the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Tripura Police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and specialized teams including the Dog Squad and Bomb Squad. The operation simulated a terror attack involving hostage rescue, room-to-room searches, and evacuation of the Secretariat complex. A key component of the exercise involved explosive detection and clearance by canine and bomb disposal units, highlighting the critical role of technical assets in threat neutralization. Officials stated that the objective of the drill was to enhance inter-agency coordination, streamline emergency protocols, and test real-time execution under pressure — particularly in protecting critical government infrastructure. Describing the drill as “essential,” authorities emphasized its importance in reinforcing the collective readiness of security forces in Tripura to respond swiftly and effectively to potential terrorist threats.
