Namsai Tourism Dept Holds Orientation Meet to Boost Tourist Safety

Itanagar: The Department of Tourism, Namsai District, organized a pivotal orientation meeting on Thursday focused on enhancing safety and security across all accommodation facilities in the region. Held at the DC’s Conference Hall, the session saw participation from hotel and homestay representatives, district officials, and police personnel. Deputy Commissioner C.R. Khampa chaired the meeting and emphasized crucial safety aspects, including the installation of CCTV cameras, implementation of emergency protocols, fire safety preparedness, and staff training to ensure guest well-being. He also urged service providers to maintain cleanliness, implement waste segregation at source, and curb plastic usage to promote sustainable tourism. The DC also highlighted several upcoming tourism development initiatives such as the Borbeel Project, Noi Dhamma, and the Mahabodhi Skill Development Centre at Nongtaw. He encouraged operators to offer outdoor experiences like cycling to enrich tourist engagement. Superintendent of Police Sangey Thinley reinforced the importance of adhering to government norms, particularly the accurate documentation of guest records. He announced that hands-on training for the Immigration, Visa, Foreigners Registration and Tracking (IVFRT) system will soon be provided to all homestay owners. I/C District Tourism Officer Dr. Keshab Sarmah advocated for proactive safety planning and efficient emergency response systems. He also apprised stakeholders of beneficial government schemes such as DDSUY and UNNATI, aimed at supporting tourism ventures. Accommodation providers expressed their readiness to adopt improved safety measures and assured continued cooperation with district authorities. The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to make Namsai a secure and inviting destination for travelers.
