Assam Rifles organizes tournament on int’l chess day
Biswanath Chariali: Assam Rifles organized a tournament on International Chess Day at Assam Rifles High School, Lokra on July 20, stated a press release. The event brought together 36 participants, including 18 boys and 18 girls. The tournament aimed to promote thinking, devising strategy and mental agility among the youth while celebrating International Chess Day. The event witnessed strong competition, with participants showcasing exceptional skills and mental agility. The tournament not only encouraged people to take up chess but also provided a platform to showcase their talent. The event concluded with prize distribution and recognition for the winners, encouraging them to aim for greater achievements. Assam Rifles continues to support initiatives that promote mental and physical development among the youth in the region. It is to be mentioned here that July 20 has been observed as International Chess Day by the chess players around the world since 1966 under the initiative of FIDE.
