Cachar DC & SMC Commissioner hold inter-departmental meet

Silchar: An important inter-departmental meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Mridul Yadav, IAS, District Commissioner, Cachar, to review and strategise solutions for critical urban issues in Silchar Municipal Corporation area. The meeting was held at the new conference hall of DC'S office on saturday, was also attended by key officials from various departments, including the Municipal Commissioner of Silchar Municipal Corporation, Srishti Singh, IAS. The meeting focused on ensuring coordinated and timely action to resolve several pressing challenges faced by the city, particularly during the monsoon season. The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of proactive planning and seamless inter-departmental collaboration to improve civic amenities and enhance the quality of life for residents. Key areas of discussion included measures to streamline traffic flow and reduce congestion across the town, immediate desilting and maintenance of drains and water channels to prevent waterlogging and mitigate flood risks, and expediting ongoing urban infrastructure projects to meet deadlines without compromising quality. Srishti Singh, IAS, underscored the urgency of addressing drainage and sewage issues and stressed the need for systematic desilting operations to protect the city during heavy rains. She also emphasised strengthening monitoring mechanisms and accountability at all levels of implementation. The meeting concluded with a clear set of directions to all departments to work in close coordination and take prompt action to resolve issues effectively and sustainably. The District Administration and Silchar Municipal Corporation reiterated their commitment to ensuring efficient delivery of civic services and creating a cleaner, better-organised, and more resilient Silchar for its citizens.
