Elderly Man Detained for Scribbling on Walls in Dhubri
Dhubri: An elderly man, identified as Nurul Haque, was detained in Dhubri town on suspicion of defacing public walls with scribbled writings. Found with markings on his clothes, Haque had reportedly written his and his wife’s names—Kachiron Bibi—along with their full address: Gachpara Panchayat, Ghiumari village, Dhubri district. Authorities suspect that Haque may be mentally unstable. A medical examination and further police investigation are underway to ascertain his condition and motives. Meanwhile, Dhubri’s newly appointed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Leena Doley, has assumed charge with visible proactiveness. She confirmed the arrest of 50 individuals in connection with the recent “Hanuman” incident in Ward No. 3 and assured strict law enforcement going forward. Referring to directives from the Chief Minister, SP Doley said intensified action is being taken against illegal cattle smuggling and cow trafficking in the region. IGP Akhilesh Kumar Singh added that the probe into the “Nabin Bangla” group is ongoing. Urging citizens not to fall for rumors, SP Doley said, “Law and order in Dhubri is under control. We are committed to ensuring no innocent person is harassed.” She also encouraged the public to promptly report any suspicious activity for immediate action.
