GM, NFR conducts Extensive Inspection of Infrastructure Projects
Guwahati: The General Manager of NFR, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, on July 15, conducted an extensive inspection tour across five railway stations of the Rangiya Division – Baihata, Changsari, Kendukona, Agthori and Rangiya (RNY). The visit was aimed to review operational safety and track & signalling infrastructure along with other development projects to ensure that their progress aligns with the NFR’s strategic priorities. At Rangiya railway station, the GM closely examined the extension works of Rangiya Railway Hospital, noting the enhancements being made to improve healthcare facilities for railway personnel and local communities. He also reviewed the Divisional Training Centre (MDDTI), which is being expanded to better equip S&T (Signal & Telecommunication) staff through specialized training and modernized classrooms and workshop facilities. Shrivastava, also inspected the development of the new Gati‑Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT) at Baihata, which is going to be commissioned soon. This modern terminal features three dedicated goods lines, an electronic in‑motion weighbridge, double goods platforms, high‑mast lighting for 24×7 operations, and a special ramp for automobile handling, with the capacity to handle over 25 freight rakes per month. The GM also reviewed the ongoing station enhancement works and inspected the adjacent railway colonies, emphasising the importance of staff housing and amenities in supporting frontline employees.
