Interactive Sessions held on World Malaria Day
Duliajan: On the occasion of World Malaria Day, on April 25, Indian Army conducted a series of awareness sessions in remote locations of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, including Saint Xavier’s School, Pengri, Hassak Village, and Kordoiguri High School, Daisajan. These events were organized in alignment with this year’s global theme – “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite.” The sessions focused on educating school students, teachers, and local villagers about the causes, symptoms, transmission, prevention and treatment of malaria. Participants were engaged through presentations, Q&A sessions, and hands-on demonstrations highlighting the use of mosquito repellents and insecticides with identification and elimination of mosquito breeding sites. Over 280 participants, including students, teachers, and villagers, attended the sessions. Army medical personnel shared expert advice on early detection, environmental hygiene, and the importance of community involvement. Informative materials and health kits were also distributed during these sessions. The events also featured insights from Dr. Prithu Deori, MNHO, Hassak MPHC, who stressed the importance of vigilance during the monsoon season when malaria risk surges.
