Justice Ashutosh Kumar takes oath as Chief Justice of Gauhati HC
Guwahati: Justice Ashutosh Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court on Monday in a solemn ceremony held in Guwahati. Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office to Justice Kumar during the official programme. The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Justice Kumar brings with him a wealth of judicial experience, having previously served as a judge in both the Patna High Court and the Delhi High Court. Taking to social media platform X after the event, Chief Minister Sarma wrote: “Attended the oath-taking ceremony of Justice Ashutosh Kumar, who has been sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. My best wishes for his tenure.” Justice Kumar’s appointment is expected to further strengthen the judiciary in the Northeast region, particularly in addressing the growing number of pending cases and ensuring timely justice delivery.
