New branch of Assam Sahitya Sabha formed in Rangapara College

Biswanath Chariali: A new branch of Assam Sahitya Sabha was formed at Rangapara College on Monday, informed Dulal Nath, organizing secretary of the Managaldai regional office of the Assam Sahitya Sabha. In this regard, a public meeting was held in the conference hall of the college with Prasanta Boro, assistant professor of the Bodo department and the vice president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha in the chair. Addressing the session, Dulal Nath, organizing secretary of Sabha talked about the mission of Sabha and made a humble appeal to all concerned to put their hands and efforts together in strengthening the organizational set up of Sabha. Nath also traced the glorious history of 108 years of inception of Assam Sahitya Sabha and said about future projects of the state literary body. The meeting was addressed by Prabin Kataky, vice president of Sonitpur Zila Sahitya Sabha. Kamini Barua, secretary of Sonitpur Zila Sahitya Sabha said about the objectives of formation of a sabha branch besides talking about constitutional provisions. A new branch of Rangapara College was constituted at the end of the meeting with Dr Naba Kanta Das as president, Atul Sarma as vice president, Dr Mousumi Dutta as secretary, Chandana Das and Malabika Kalita as assistant secretaries besides other executive members. At the end of the meeting life certificates of Assam Sahitya Sabha were handed over to 14 members of the college.
