Niranjan Das conferred with Sarpa Bandhu title
Biswanath Chariali: Niranjan Das, an emerging snake rescuer of Sootea area has been conferred with Sarpa Bandhu (snake friend) title by eminent snake rescuer and environmentalist Sourabh Barkataky, at a function held at Baliram Lahkar auditorium, Tezpur recently. He was conferred with the title along with a citation, memento and a gamosa. Notably, Niranjan has been working as snake rescuer in the greater Sootea, Biswanath and Naduar area for a long time and managed to rescue and release many snakes from the householders so far. In this function other nine snake rescuers were conferred with the snake friend title by Sourabh Barkataky besides other four distinguished persons who have contributed in rescue work and saving the lives of snake bite people. Organizations and individuals of the greater Sootea area have congratulated Niranjan for his recognition. It is to be mentioned here that July 16 has been observed as World Snake Day around the world.
