Lokam Tassar appointed as Chairman of SLVMC
Itanagar: The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has appointed Lokam Tassar as the Chairman of the State Level Vigilance & Monitoring Committee (SLVMC), a key body tasked with overseeing the implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the state.
This appointment, made under Section 29(1) of the NFSA, aligns with the revised Model Citizen's Charter for the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) issued by the Government of India. It has received formal approval under Note #12 dated June 13, 2025 (E-Comp. No. 251085).
As Chairman, Tassar will lead efforts to enhance transparency and accountability in the Public Distribution System. His responsibilities include conducting visits to Fair Price Shops, interacting with beneficiaries to address ground-level challenges, and ensuring the effective supervision of food security schemes across the state.
The SLVMC is also empowered to report violations and malpractices to the District Grievance Redressal Officer (DGRO), ensuring timely corrective measures and upholding the rights of beneficiaries.
The state government expects this move to reinforce its commitment to food security, grievance redressal, and ethical governance, thereby improving service delivery and boosting public confidence in welfare schemes.
