Ashok Singhal distributes land title certificates in Biswanath

Biswanath Chariali: The Biswanath District Administration officially issued title certificates to 2145 claimants living in forest land in the district under the Forest Land Rights Act. Biswanath guardian minister Ashok Singhal officially inaugurated the process of issuing certificates to the claimants in the presence of MLA Diganta Ghatwaal. A total of 2,145 claimants living in various forest lands under all the assembly constituencies of Biswanath district have been issued title deeds. In his speech, Ashok Singhal, minister of Health and Family Welfare and guardian Minister of Biswanath district said that this is an innovative initiative of the Government of Assam to protect the indigenous people of Assam socially and culturally under the Forest Rights Act. The State Government has been making efforts to give land rights to the indigenous people of the state through the implementation of the Forest Rights Act. He added that the government has been constantly keeping a close eye on ensuring proper implementation of the Act at the field level through the formation of the Forest Rights Committee and its members. As a part of this initiative, the state government has also taken steps to benefit the indigenous people of Biswanath district. District Commissioner of Biswanath Seemanta Kumar Das forwarded a welcome address and moderated by Anjan Bora. Biswanath MLA Pramod Barthakur delivered a short speech and congratulated all the recipients of land title certificates. The ceremony was attended by three MLAs of Biswanath respectively Pramod Barthakur, Biswanath, Diganta Ghatowal, Behali and Utpal Borah, Gohpur were present. It was also attended by newly elected chairperson of Biswanath ZPC Sunita Tanti, senior superintendent of Police Biswanath Subhasish Baruah, CEO Biswanath Liza Talukdar, CDCs of Behali and Gohpur Dhrubajyoti Das and Lukumani Bora, additional District Commissioner Asim Bargohain, social worker Asim Kumar Das, Assistant Commissioner and Sub-Division Welfare Officer Pushpankar Patir, and Forest Rights Committee office bearers and officers and employees of the district administration.
