Northeast power conclave 2025 starts
Guwahati: The inaugural two-day North East Power Conclave 2025 commenced on June 17 with a strong focus on enhancing regional cooperation, attracting infrastructure investments, and addressing the unique energy challenges of the Northeast. Organised by the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA), the event brings together key stakeholders to promote sustainable energy solutions, upgrade transmission infrastructure, and ensure last-mile connectivity across the region. Addressing the conclave, Nagaland Power Minister K G Kenye emphasised the need for greater industry focus on the Northeast. "Nagaland has long struggled with energy deficits and limited private investment due to past political dynamics. But the landscape is changing, and we are now ready for partnerships," he said. Mizoram’s Power and Electricity Minister F Rodingliana underscored the untapped hydropower potential in the state. "We have a 3,600 MW river capacity but are generating less than 100 MW. There is an urgent need to revive small hydropower projects," he stated. IEEMA President Sunil Singhvi highlighted the strategic significance of the Northeast in India's renewable energy roadmap, noting its 58,000 MW hydro potential and investment prospects of ₹60,000–₹70,000 crore over the next decade. Over 500 delegates from across the country, including senior officials and industry leaders, are participating in the conclave, which also hosted a buyer-seller meet to encourage business collaborations.
