Novel “Dear Arjie” by Drishtirupa Das Launched at GPC

Guwahati: The Guwahati Press Club was abuzz with literary warmth and cultural reflections on Saturday morning as Mumbai-based writer and screenwriter Drishtirupa Das launched her debut novel Dear Arjie in the presence of esteemed guests, readers, and members of Assam’s literary community. The event opened with a soulful Saraswati Vandana by Er. Bijuli Goswami, followed by a welcome address from Sristirupa Das, who anchored the event and introduced the dignitaries. Presiding over the occasion was Dr. Harendra Chandra Das, former Director of Education, Assam, who spoke of literature’s transformative power. The Chief Guest, Shri Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa—former Chief Secretary of Assam and Governor of Arunachal Pradesh—praised the novel’s emotional depth and the clarity in Drishti’s voice as a debut novelist. Shrimati Bandita Phukan, the Guest of Honour, and a Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar awardee with 143 published works, hailed Dear Arjie as a tender and timely exploration of courage and belonging. She also highlighted Drishti’s contribution to a growing body of literature from the Northeast that resonates across generations. Following the book’s unveiling, Drishtirupa Das shared her inspiration behind Dear Arjie and read an excerpt that moved the audience. Attendees later shared their impressions, underlining the novel’s emotional and societal resonance. Dear Arjie follows the lives of Maya, Arjun, and others as they navigate love, identity, and acceptance in a world that often resists difference. It is now available on Amazon, Flipkart, and other leading online platforms. The event concluded with group photos, interactions, and heartfelt thanks from the author.
