Two Illegal Immigrants from Bangladesh Nabbed at Lumding Junction by RPF
Guwahati: In a recent security operation, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Lumding Junction detained two Bangladeshi nationals traveling without valid identification or travel documents. The arrests were made during a routine check on the 13173 Kanchanjunga Express, raising concerns about the ongoing issue of unauthorized border crossings. The individuals have been identified as 35-year-old Feroj Sheikh from Kachua in Bagerhat district and 31-year-old Moina Roshani Kashyap from Phulbari Gate in Khulna district, both hailing from Bangladesh. Upon initial interrogation, it was revealed that the duo had illegally crossed into Indian territory nearly a year ago.According to statements made during the preliminary inquiry, the two suspects admitted to entering India with the help of brokers who allegedly facilitated their illicit passage across the international border. Since their unauthorized entry, both had been living in Bengaluru, where they were reportedly engaged in unverified forms of employment.Following their detention, the RPF promptly handed over the suspects to the Government Railway Police (GRP), who have now taken over the case for a deeper probe. Investigators are currently working to determine the exact nature of their stay, employment history, and potential involvement in larger illegal immigration networks.Authorities suspect that a broader nexus may be responsible for aiding such illegal cross-border movements, particularly through organized human trafficking or undocumented labor routes. Efforts are now underway to trace the brokers and uncover any associates or handlers involved in the process. This incident has once again highlighted the vulnerabilities in India’s border management and the need for stricter vigilance across railway routes often exploited by illegal migrants. Security agencies have emphasized the importance of coordination between border forces, local police, and railway authorities to curb such movements and ensure national security.Further developments are expected as the investigation unfolds, with officials closely monitoring the situation for any leads that could expose a larger operation behind these unauthorized entries.
