Guwahati: In a major boost to Assam cricket, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has announced international exposure tours for both the senior men’s and women’s teams. The move is aimed at enhancing performance by familiarizing players with international cricketing conditions.

Addressing a press conference, ACA Secretary Tridip Konwar revealed that the men’s team, captained by Denish Das, will tour Namibia for a five-match One-Day series. The women’s team, led by Uma Chetry, will head to Malaysia for a similar series. “It’s an exciting step forward for Assam cricket,” said Konwar. “These tours will provide invaluable exposure.”

The men’s team departs on June 18, with matches scheduled in Windhoek on June 21, 23, 25, 27, and 29. The women’s matches in Kuala Lumpur are scheduled between July 7 and 15.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia praised the ACA’s initiative, emphasizing the value of international competition. “Exposure to global teams will broaden our players' horizons and test their abilities,” he said, while also urging players to stay focused and respect their opponents.

Present at the event were ACA joint secretary Rajinder Singh, treasurer Chiranjit Langthasa, vice-president Rajdeep Oja, and other officials.

Both team captains expressed their excitement. Denish Das called it a “great opportunity to grow and bond as a team,” while Uma Chetry said the experience would “build discipline and confidence for the season ahead.”
