Kashyapi returns to home after clinching Silver at Wushu Championship 2025
Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh’s rising Wushu star, Kashyapi Sonowal, was given a heartfelt welcome at Dr. Bhupen Hazarika International Airport on Thursday following her silver medal victory at the Wushu Star International Championship 2025 in Moscow. Students and staff of Sampoorna Kendra Vidyalaya, along with her family and well-wishers, gathered to celebrate her return. The 17-year-old athlete secured silver in the Jianshu event, adding to her impressive record. The school organized the reception to honour her dedication and achievements. Overwhelmed by the support, Kashyapi thanked her coaches, school, and supporters, saying, “This medal is not just mine—it’s for Dibrugarh, Assam, and every young athlete dreaming big.” Kashyapi is a six-time national medallist, three-time Khelo India medallist, and has consistently represented India in global Wushu competitions. Her earlier accomplishments include a silver at the 2023 Wushu International Championship and a top-four finish in 2022. Her recent win has sparked immense pride across Assam, with many hailing her as a sports icon. Her journey continues to inspire young martial artists and showcases the rising talent of Northeast India on the world stage.
