Imphal: Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan called on Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla in a high-level meeting to review critical issues facing the state, including border security, rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs), and the prevailing law and order situation. The meeting, held on June 1, 2025, was attended by Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka, Manipur Chief Secretary PK Singh, the state’s Security Advisor, and other senior officials. Discussions focused on ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts for IDPs, progress on border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar frontier, and strategies to maintain peace and stability across Manipur. A comprehensive assessment was conducted regarding support provided to displaced persons in both hill and valley regions. Officials reviewed the adequacy of current relief facilities, rehabilitation status, and deliberated on a long-term resettlement plan for affected communities. Following the review, the delegation visited two relief camps in Churachandpur district — Dorcas Veng and Sadhbhavna Mandap at Tuibong. At Dorcas Veng, Govind Mohan inaugurated a crèche facility and launched a women’s tailoring program aimed at empowering displaced women. At Sadhbhavna Mandap, he inaugurated a crèche-cum-children’s library to enhance child welfare services at the camp. During the visits, the officials interacted closely with displaced families, inspected camp infrastructure and relief supplies, and heard firsthand the concerns of IDP caretakers, assuring them of continued government assistance. In a special gesture of encouragement, 15 students from the two camps — five from Dorcas Veng and ten from Tuibong — who cleared the HSLC and Higher Secondary Examinations 2025 were felicitated by the Union Home Secretary with certificates of appreciation. The visiting team also included Manipur Director General of Police Rajiv Singh, Churachandpur Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S, and other senior administrative and security officials. The visit underscores the government’s commitment to restoring normalcy and supporting vulnerable populations amid ongoing challenges in Manipur.
