2nd extended executive meeting of Lakhimpur Jila Sahitya Sabha held
Five books including e-magazine 'Panchanai Shabda Dhara' were launched;
North Lakhimpur: The second extended executive meeting of Lakhimpur Jila Sahitya Sabha was held on July 12 at Panigaon OPD College, North Lakhimpur. The meeting was hosted by Telahi Kamalabaria Anchalik Sakha Sahitya Sabha in collaboration with the college unit of the literary body. The meeting began with the presentation of "Chira Senehi Mor Bhasa Janani..." the title song of the Asom Sahitya Sabha. It was chaired by Sanjib Upadhyay, the president of the Lakhimpur Jila Sahitya Sabha and the inaugural address was delivered by Sanjib Borah, the secretary of the North Lakhimpur Regional Office of the Asom Sahitya Sabha. Prabin Hazarika, the secretary of Lakhimpur Jila Sahitya Sabha, explained the objective of the meeting while the welcome address was delivered by Nila Chutia, the president of Telahi-Kamalabaria Anchalik Sakha Sahitya Sabha. After the reading and approval of the secretarial report, the auditor's report for the last three months was submitted and read out by Tolan Sonowal, the treasurer of the Lakhimpur Jila Sahitya Sabha. In the same meeting, the first e-magazine, 'Panchanai Shabda Dhara', published by Lakhimpur Jila Sahitya Sabha under the overall planning and editing of Juganta Saikia was launched by senior journalist and educationist Hem Goswami. The e-magazine has been dedicated to the late Jugal Ranjan Saikia, founder of Gigabyte, a pioneer establishment in modern offset printing and computer education in Lakhimpur. Patron of the e-magazine, Phoola Saikia was feted in the meeting, wherein 'Subansiri, the quarterly mouthpiece of the Jila Sahitya Sabha was released by Suresh Dutta, the Principal of Panigaon OPD College. Poetry magazine of the Jila Sahitya Sabha, 'Kabya Kanan' was released by Sanjib Borah while anthology of dramas 'Dekagiri' by playwright Manik Sonowal was released by Anil Saikia, the vice-president of Lakhimpur Jila Sahitya Sabha. Translated book of Jogendra Nath Dutta, namely 'Sankardeva-Madhabdeva Jibon Jyoti' was launched by district president Sanjib Upadhyay while other book 'Looking for the History of Letekupukhuri' was launched by Sanjib Borah. Attending the meeting, the branch literary bodies' presidents, vice-presidents, secretaries and members sent to the districts committee shared their views by representing their branch literary bodies. The 3rd executive meeting of Lakhimpur Jila Sahitya Sabha to be held in October was officially invited by Madhavdev Sakha Sahitya Sabha. The vice-president of the Jila Sahitya Sabha, in his lecture, appealed to the people of every walk of life to extend their cooperation with regard to implementation of the organizational and reformative agendas adopted by the district committee. The vote of thanks in the meeting was delivered by Rintu Saikia, secretary of Telahi Kamalabaria Anchalik Sakha Sahitya Sabha and Prabin Hazarika, the secretary of Lakhimpur Jila Sahitya Sabha.
