Mother tongue fuels cultural and literary interest: M.K. Nath
Tezpur: 'Mother tongue is the key to fostering interest in one's own language, literature, and culture', said Executive President of Asam Sahitya Sabha Publicity Sub Committee Mahendra Kumar Nath attending as keynote speaker in the felicitation event held on Sunday evening at Gopal Gosai Than in Tezpur’s Gharpara Chuburi organised by Chandrahansa Path Kalyan Samiti. Highlighting the importance and significance of the mother tongue, he urged everyone specially the students to nurture interest in their own language and culture and emphasized the need to encourage students to acquire command over their mother language. The event began with a brief speech from Secretary Putul Kumar Nath, who outlined the progress of the newly formed Chandrahansa Path Kalyan Samiti and expressed aspirations for its development seeking public support and cooperation. Several meritorious students of the area who excelled in the 2024–25 HSLC examinations were honored with the Pratibha Sandhani Bota (Talent Award). The awardees were Parinita Kakati, Arnab Bharali, and Dhritiman Kashyap. Additionally, Mayuram Bharali and Pranati Boro from the area extended personal gifts to the students. The event was presided over by noted litterateur and president of the Chandrahansa Path Kalyan Samiti Dilip Kumar Baruah. Working president of the committee Basanta Kumar Rabha and noted citizen of the area Haren Nath also addressed the students with a few words of encouragement. The event resonated with a variety of vibrant performances by children. Parinita Kakoti opened the program with a Borgeet (traditional devotional song), accompanied musically by Piku Mahanta and Abhigyan Kakoti. Other performances included songs and dances by Sanskriti Baniya, Ripuraj Saikia, Karandeep Patir, Daisy Goswami Baruah, Aradhya Kashyap, Nabaneel Kashyap, and Abhigyan Kakoti. The event concluded with a vote of thanks offered by another secretary, Binanda Bora.
