3 killed on spot in a tragic road mishap in Nagaon

Nagaon: In a horrific road accident, three persons including a mother and son were killed on spot yesterday evening at Balijuri near Puranigudam here. The accident happened when a speeding motorcycle coming from Chapanala picnic spot collided head-on with another motorcycle carrying a woman and her son from Lungchung Chamchia Line. The impact was so severe that the woman, Menaka Bakti, was thrown off the motorcycle and landed inside a parked e-rickshaw where she died instantly. Her son, Binod Bakti, who was riding the motorcycle, also died on the spot. The third person who died was Rokibul Hussen, a rider of the other motorcycle, hailing from Borbheti in Sonitpur district. According to locals, the accident occurred when Binod Bakti was bringing his mother home from Dharamtul. The accident has sent shockwaves through the Lungchung tea garden, where the mother-son duo lived. In the tragic road mishap, another three persons were seriously injured, including Najma Khatun, Anil Munda, and Rabikul Islam. The accident has raised concerns about the reckless driving of motorcyclists in the area, who often speed through the roads despite repeated requests to the police to take action. Locals have alleged that the police have failed to take adequate measures to control the speeding motorcyclists, leading to frequent accidents in the area. The accident has once again highlighted the need for stricter traffic rules and enforcement to prevent such tragedies.
