Domestic Child Labour Rescued in Lakhimpur
North Lakhimpur: The Assam Centre for Rural Development (ACRD, NGO, member of DFTL), with the District Level Task Force (DLTF), conducted a successful domestic child labour rescue operation at Thunai Path, CD Road, Lakhimpur Thrusday. During the operation, the team rescued an 11-year-old girl who had been working as a domestic helper in a local household for several months. The rescue operation was carried out through a surprise visit by the DLTF team.Following the rescue, the child was immediately taken to the Lakhimpur Police Station. A medical check-up was conducted to assess her health condition, and she was subsequently produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Lakhimpur district for further care and rehabilitation.The rescue operation was carried out with active participation by Mousumi Bora ( Executive Magistrate),Bhaswatee Gogoi ( District Labour Officer) ,Tonay Goswami (District Labour Inspector) ,Shilpi Reka Hazarika ( Member, CWC, Lakhimpur) Rupa Changmai (Para Legal Volunteer, DLSA Lakhimpur), Hari Chandra Das ( CHL, Lakhimpur),and Raja Padi ( DPC, ACRD, Lakhimpur). This rescue operation has reflected the continuing commitment of ACRD and DLTF towards the elimination of child labour and the protection of children’s rights in Lakhimpur district.
