Handicrafts exhibition cum sale fair underway at Nagaon
Nagaon: A handicrafts exhibition cum sale, organized by Sonaiporiya Handicraft Producer Company Ltd, was inaugurated on Friday at Bhutia Market, in front of the DC Office, Nagaon here. The event was sanctioned by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicraft), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, for the cluster artisans of Itapara, Majarati craft cluster area. The exhibition was inaugurated by Debashish Sarma, District Commissioner, Nagaon in presence of Tejas Agnihotri IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Nagaon and Tapan Saha, Assistant Manager, DICC Nagaon, Joydeep Roy, Senior Branch Manager, Indian Bank, Nagaon, Dhananjay Talukdar, Accounts and Programme officer, Mera Yuva Bharat, Nagaon and A S Kabir, youth leader, Nagaon. The exhibition cum sale fair will continue for a period of 10 days from June 27 to July 6. The aim of the exhibition is to promote local artisans and traditional handicrafts by providing them a platform to display and sell their handmade products. A variety of handicraft items are to be displayed for sale. Tayabur Rahman, Director, Sonaiporiya Handicraft Producer Co. Ltd, extended a warm welcome and expressed gratitude to all dignitaries and attendees.
