NFR Restores Lumding–Badarpur Rail Route in Record Time
Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has successfully restored the Lumding–Badarpur Hill Section, resuming train services in under a week after multiple earth slips had disrupted the route. The affected stretch between KM 108/6-8 in the Jatinga Lumpur–New Haflong section is now operational. Limited train operations began today between 12:00 and 18:00 hrs, with full services set to resume from June 30. The first goods train passed the section at 10:21 AM, followed by the Sealdah–Silchar Kanchenjunga Express and Sabroom–Sealdah Kanchenjunga Express, both operating smoothly. A special relief train from Rangiya also crossed the restored section, aiding stranded passengers. The landslides, caused by continuous heavy rain, had halted both passenger and freight movement. NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava personally oversaw restoration efforts, deploying extensive manpower and machinery. Crews worked round the clock to ensure safety and restore vital connectivity. NFR thanked passengers for their patience and urged them to follow official channels for service updates.
