Nutritional support for TB care: food packets distributed in Lakhimpur
North Lakhimpur: A public meeting was held at the conference hall of the Joint Director of DHS, Lakhimpur on Saturday under the chairmanship of Dr. Biman Sarmah, Joint Director, DHS, Lakhimpur, to distribute Nikshay Mitra food packets to TB patients in the district. The event witnessed the presence of district health officials, NTEP team members, and invited TB patients, emphasizing a collective commitment to ending TB. In his welcome speech, Dr. Hridayananda Boruah, District TB Officer, Lakhimpur, extended heartfelt gratitude to Power Grid corporation of India for their generous support under the CSR initiative. Their unwavering contribution align with the honourable Prime Minister's vision to provide nutritional assistance to TB patients, ensuring better health and recovery. Through a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) signed in 2024 with the District Health Society, Lakhimpur Power Grid corporation has been instrumental in funding the Nikshay Mitra food packets, released in two installments. The second installment is now being effectively utilized to support 634 TB patients across the district. As part of the function, 34 TB patients under the District TB Centre (DTC) TU received food packets directly from Dr. Biman Sarmah and his team, making a strong step forward in nutritional aid patient support. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by poet cum story writer Pankaj Savapandit, acknowledging all stakeholders who contributed to this noble initiative.
